International Market Heads to Preston
4 April 2023
An exciting three-day international market event is on its way to Preston city centre this month.
Director of Environment and Property at Preston City Council, Adrian Robinson, said:
"Preston has not held a continental market for many years and so we are delighted to work with Market Place to bring a host of international fare to the city once more.
"Working alongside our existing traders at Preston Markets, the international market will bring an opportunity for locals to be introduced to something a little bit different right here in the heart of Preston."
Market Place has a long history of delivering a variety of different market events including the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the Tall Ships Festival in Belfast.
Andy Pidgen, Operations Manager at Market Place (Europe), said:
"We are really looking forward to bringing this specialist market to Preston for the first time and what better place to hold the event than down the road from Preston's famous Market Hall.
"At the international market, customers can enjoy tastes from across the globe. Stalls will include our famous Wokman authentic Chinese food, the owner of whom lives in Preston and is so happy we are staging this market in his own city.
"Customers can also enjoy the Salford Rum Company with their off-sale rum and moonshine, the Katsu noodle stall, Mr Naas with his fairtrade gifts made from Moroccan Thuya Wood, coconut macaroons (baked on site), Tom Henry's famous cheeses, jams and chutneys, German salami, our Ecuadorean food and craft stall.
There will also be exotic burgers, olives, baklava... the list goes on! There are plenty of delights that visitors can really immerse themselves in a worldwide retail experience."
The international market stalls will be open from 10 am until 5pm on each of the three days.
